ABOUT GAY SKI WEEK
What is the Gay Ski Week QT Winter Pride Festival?
Gay Ski Week Queenstown is a festival that encourages locals and visitors alike to come together and celebrate their diversity.
Jam-packed with amazing events, including cabaret nights, massive dance parties and night skiing, the festival is the perfect week for people to show their true selves in an accepting, supportive and fun community.
Held annually, Queenstown is one of the best places in the world to host such a festival. As well as being the adventure capital of the world, it’s also a top tourist destination and is full of supportive local businesses and people who welcome and encourage our community’s growing demographic.
Our guests are 45% Australian, 45% NZ, with the rest everywhere else. Around half of our guest repeat visit Queenstown at another date and return to our Winter Pride festival in a following year.
We now have 10,000+ Instagram followers and 5000+ Facebook followers, so be sure to like and follow us on social media to keep up to date with new events and pic ostings of your favouire moments during the festival.
We sell 4,500+ tickets to our Pride Events annually in Queenstown and thousands more attend Gay Ski Week QT's free and non-ticketed events.
Following on from the huge success of the 2017 event, we are planning for this year to be bigger and bolder than ever! We have a fantastic line-up of events in the pipeline, activities, parties, pop-ups, free events and more. The full event listing will be launched later in February and we will continue to add new events as we grow during the year.
How is it structured?
Gay Ski Week started in 2012, when we thought it was about time Queenstown had an event that celebrated diversity in all its forms. 7 years later, and we’re now the largest gay pride festival in the Southern Hemisphere, with more partners, pomp and parties than ever before.
This year's festival is placing a renewed emphasis on growing the ON-MOUNTAIN SERIES, with a designated mountain resort hosting the festival each day so that we can keep the fun in one place. This year, our partner mountains are working with us to dedicate areas of their bars and restaurants to our pride festival, meaning music, plenty of socialising and a real pride vibe on the slopes.
Our free ski / boarding guides will also be there to show you around. Just like you, they are people who are here on holiday and who want to have the best time yet. They are volunteering to help make your trip even more fun and we are confident that you'll love them.
We are also introducing free ski/board/boots concierge service and you can now leave your gear at the bus at the end of your day and head straight to our Winter Pride Apres Ski in town - Live music /DJs, good drinks and company. No fuss. Just pick your gear back up when you board the bus the next morning.
For those who aren't so keen on snow, check out our OFF-MOUNTAIN SERIES - lots to choose from that will be a bit warmer than the hitting the slopes.
And then, of course, the usual PRIDE PARTY SERIES - those great parties you've always loved in the past with a few extra special ones this time round, like a Cards against Humanity games night, a comedy night, and our new Shared Table series, making getting dinner with good company so much easier than it has been at previous events.

On Mountain Series
The Queenstown Lakes region has 4 mountain resorts. This year we are partnering with two resorts to provide our On-Mountain Series of Events: Cardrona Alpine Resort and The Remarkables.
We have also partnered with Go Orange, who have provided us with our incredible Pride Buses. Head up and down the mountains with the rest of the Winter Pride crew with minimum hassle each day, and leave your ski / board gear at the ski concierge service so that you can head straight to Apres ski in town.
Head to our ON-MOUNTAIN SERES page for information on whats hapenign when and where up the mountains.
Off Mountain Series
This year, GSWQT is building an OFF-MOUNTAIN Series of events including Pride Groups for Queenstown's usual Adrenaline Junky activities such as Bungy, Jet Boat, White Water rafting and many other activites that this region is famous for.
More wine tasting, food and other outdoor activities such as a Ride for Pride and a few Hikes for Pride are also in the pipeline, which shoud help those of you who want a day or two off the mountian to have even more fun with outh festival goers this Winter Pride.
We are working towards having our first public Pride in the Park event, where the whole community can celebrate with us, On th efinal Friday afternoon. So watch this space. It should line up to be an axciting and fun week.
Pride Party Series
As always, the Pride Party Series is one of the highlights of our week long festival. A great place to meet new people and old friends.
This year we are keeping some of our old favourites and increasing some venues sizes so that more people can get tickets to our parties. Our final party, PROPAGANDA Galaxy, will be an extravagant end the week, with live performers and DJs, followed closely in popularity by the Wild West and Leather and Lace Parties earlier in the week.
We are moving Kola's cabaret to an exciting new format and venue, are injecting new life into apres ski each evening at Smiths Craft Beer House - a real Pride Bar, with DJ's, good company and friendly staff, and are trialling a few new events such as Comedy Night and our second games night: "Card against Humanity".
For the men who like to really dress down, we have partnered with Urge Events to bring their (in)famous Underwear Party to town.
If you want to meet new people outside of parties, we are introducing a Shared Table series - where you can have your meals with other festival goers - normally limited to 30 people per venue, so do book for these evenings early rather than later so that you can be included in the fun.
How do I buy a ticket or an event pass
It's as simple as clicking on the "TICKETS AND PASSES" button and getting your credit card out.
Go for it! And we'll see you at the festival in September.
