An interview with the fabulous Miss Kola of the Caluzzi Girls

This year, Gibbston Valley Winery and Gay Ski Week QT are returning to Skyline Gondola for Cabaret Night a night of fun, food and great entertainment on Wednesday 31st August 2016.

Enjoy a complementary drink at the bottom of the gondola before being whisked away, 450m above Queenstown to the venue with the best views in town! There’ll be a Cabaret dinner and entertainment with the fabulous Caluzzi Girls from Auckland New Zealand, and live music into the evening.

This week, the team caught up with our favourite Caluzzi Girl (shh, don’t tell the others), the wonderful Miss Kola to get the low-down on why she thinks it’s GSWQT’s absolutely must do event.

What's your favourite thing(s) about Queenstown?

The scenery! It truly is breath-taking. Queenstown has got that party feel to it where every night is a Friday night. You don’t go to Queenstown to sleep; you can do that when you’re dead. You go there to PARTY, PLAY and admire the scenery…whoever HE or SHE may be.

Why should we all go to Gay Ski Week QT 2016?

Each night during Gay Ski Week, you have sooo many options to party with a group of people who actually know how to party! It doesn’t matter if you are gay, straight or undecided.

The GSWQT team have put together a fun filled week with different events to suit all types of people.  Most nights are themed, there’s dance parties, comedy, cabaret, dining, karaoke and more! There’s specials on hotels and ski packages... these people are like the gay version of Trivago and WOTIF.

It’s a no brainer really!

Why should we go to your Cabaret show, and what can we expect?

The Gibbston Valley Cabaret Night this year will be AMAZING and CAMP! Breath-taking scenery, fantastic food, gorgeous wine topped off with home grown New Zealand talent. So much BANG for your buck!

The night will feature shows from some of New Zealand’s leading drag performers and my special international guest. There’ll be live performances by the talented Cindy of Samoa and the night will finish with the King of handbag music, DJ Sparkles.

Remember this is all happening at 450 metres above Queenstown. You couldn’t get that much action in the toilets on a plane.

This event sold out last year, so it’s important to get your tickets early.

What's your best memory from previous Gay Ski Weeks?

My first experience was over two years ago, I just loved everything about GSWQT and Queenstown itself. I’ve been back every year since!

Gay Ski Week made me realise that as Kiwis we are lucky to be living in such a beautiful country that allows us to be who we are freely.

Your top ski/snowboard tip is...

BITCH HOLD ON …. And if you’re going to fall …. FALL WITH DIGNITY DAMN IT!!!!!!

Your summary of Gay Ski Week QT is…

This week is for everyone gay, straight, bi, whoever. The important thing is that you have a positive attitude and are ready to PARTY with the best. HIT IT at GAY SKI WEEK QT… come party with us!
